My Favorite Scriptures: | Proverbs 3:5-6 | Doctrine and Covenants 6:36 |
Faith is an important element of my life. I was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Any child who grew-up regularly attending church knows that you start off dependent on the testimony of others. As I've matured, I have sought to have a testimony of my own, to better understand the purpose of life, and to have a relationship with my Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. To gain that testimony for myself, I study the scriptures and words of living prophets and apostles.
I wanted to create a space on my blog where I could share some of that study with the intent of allowing others to see what I am pondering as I read through the scriptures. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ, we believe the Bible (King James version of the Old Testament and New Testament) to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God, and have additional teachings and modern revelation available to us through living prophets and apostles, just as Christ established when He built His church during His mortal ministry.
Favorite scriptures are those that remind me to trust that Heavenly Father has a better plan than I can imagine or create, that trials are temporary and intended for spiritual growth, and that I should not try to do everything on my own.

Ether 12:27It seriously seems like all signs have been pointing with a neon outline to my weakness lately. All these promptings reminded me of a scripture in the Book of Mormon. In the book of Ether, Moroni receives some instruction from the Lord that teaches that character weakness is an essential part of life, and could even be considered a gift from God, to help us choose humility and look to Him...
